Sizing: The brace is definitely tight, but I believe that's by design. A good knee brace should provide some compression. When I took my measurements, all my sizes were near the middle of the range for a LARGE. When I first slid it on, it definitely takes a little work but it does stretch a little. I personally have small calves so I could see how someone with huge blown out calves would have a hard time getting it on because the bottom portion tapers down a little. I still recommend not sizing up because of compression. If you don't want compression and want a more comfortable fit, you can size up but be aware that there is a chance the brace could slip during heavy activity if you sacrifice compression for comfort.
Wear: I read some reviews that this brace caused some chaffing. I didn't take any chances and wore some stretch material underneath (for me, it was cold outside so I wore tight thermals but any sport/compression pants would work). I ran for an hour and a half and experienced no skin irritation.
Comfort: At first you feel a little robotic and stiff, but you quickly work in and movements become more natural. Walking is fine, climbing stairs is probably 95% of normal movement, sitting is normal. Running is probably around 85-90%. The one thing I noticed however is that the compression seems to slightly cut circulation, enough to make running more difficult -- not because of the motion, but because your legs seem to burn out faster than a normal run would. You may have to make frequent stops. I'm sure everyone has different cardiovascular conditioning and results may vary but I would say that you will likely have slight performance drops; not because of mobility, but because of the compression. That said, if you are battling a knee problem its still better than being forced to be completely inactive.
Performance: It seems like the biggest advantages on this brace is lateral knee support and compression. It felt strong, supportive and I never had any lateral slips. It also seemed to reduce impact on the knees, perhaps by dispersing some of that energy through the hinges to the lower leg, thereby reducing the amount of force being put on the knees. I felt no joint soreness after my run, like I have been feeling lately (although my leg muscles were screaming when I finished)
Based on my experience, I think this will be perfect for snowboarding or skiing and I plan to wear it on my upcoming trips. Since snowboarding doesn't require the same volume of blood flowing in and out of the legs as running does, I don't expect to feel much leg burnout and the range of motion should be perfect for this brace. I will update this review once I give it a few runs.
One thing that I did not expect was the amount of people that ask me about the braces. I lost count of how many people ask me what they are and where I got them. I will many times run errands before or after the gym and I wear them the whole time so when Ive been in differeent stores strangers will just walk up and ask about them. They do look nice and do sport some bright colors but I have never had a knee brace draw so much attention. I always give them a rave review and I hope they took the advice and bought them for themselves.
They are the best, most supportive, best looking, most comfortable braces I have ever worn and I have tried them all. If you need a knee brace Shock Doctor is the king.
I also bought the level 3 brace. It is just like this brace but has two crossing straps in the back instead of only the lower one like on these. I actually found the level 3 to feel more giving and this level 2 felt more restrictive to me so I have started using this exclusively in the gym since it kept my knees more rigid. I now use the level 3 for other non gym related things like bike riding.
It's hard to get on. There are no convenient places to hold on to it as you pull it on. Once on, it is very comfortable. I gave it 4 instead of a 5 because it is so hard to get on.
The design held my knee in place very well. It didn't slip or fall down all day: no pulling this one back in place every 30 minutes!
The unadjustable, 2" wide elastic at the back of my thigh was too tall for me, and I had to cut a 1/2" off the top for comfort.
Some things I don't like, but the design worked very well and kept my pain at a minimum. I would but it again.

After dislocating my knee playing football, I had my leg in a full splint which didn’t allow me to bend my knee and was told that I’d be off my feet for 4/6 weeks..
After a lot of research into leg braces I kept coming back to this one.. it’s a little pricey but honestly it’s very much worth it!
This brace stops my knee from buckling and after a week and a half of the leg splint from the hospital I moved onto using this brace and it’s speeded my recovery massively and I’m back walking (with the help of a crutch) in just two weeks! My knee feels incredibly unstable without this and wouldn’t be walking on it without it!!
When I was looking into this product, a lot of the reviews were mentioning the size chart and to go a size bigger than what you measure.. my knee came to 34” (the bigger size) of medium so I got a large.. it was very tight to begin with but now it’s broken in it’s spot on!! Also to help anyone else out with the size chart I’m 6ft1 - 13st - athletic build.
